Diego Adams, a graduate of Roberson High, was the top scholarship winner; he received $5,000 to attend the college or university of his choice. On his decision to attend A-B Tech, his scholarship award was boosted by a private donation. Darryl Rhymes, MLK Association board member and Chair of the annual Breakfast Committee, donated $1,500. A trained singer, Rhymes raised this money through a concert whose donations went to the Association’s scholarship fund. He did this because A-B Tech is near and dear to his heart, where he is the Director of Employment and Employee Relations.

“I am extremely humble as the MLK Jr. Youth Scholarship award winner,” Adams said. “Accepting this award has made an enormous opportunity to further my education, to reach my goals and dreams. I am deeply committed to accepting the challenge of hard work and the amazing future ahead.”
