MSD Job Opening for Pump Station Technician

Hiring range is from $38,056 (min) to $46,638 (mid) annually.
Job Duties
Under direct supervision, performs basic technical work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of both electrical and mechanical equipment and machinery at pumping stations for the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County.
Work involves performing a variety of basic tasks in the maintenance of equipment, machinery, and related apparatus at the pump stations. Daily tasks require initiative and judgment in completing major tasks. Work may also include the operation of various motorized/non-motorized equipment used in repairs.
Independent judgment is exercised in accordance with established procedures and practices. Reports to Pump Station Maintenance Crew Leader.
Minimum Training and Experience
• Graduation from high school, Technical School, possess an Electrical license or Journeyman’s card in relevant trade, or possession of a Level 2 Plant Maintenance Technologist Certification and 2 to 5 years of documented electrical experience and experience in the use and repair of small to large pumps and equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills.
• Experience with Diesel engines and basic wiring and electrical safety; familiarity with automated controls (transducers, transformers, milltronics switches, etc.).
• Ability to read piping/ plumbing/ building/ electrical blueprints and shop drawings; use measuring tools (calipers, measuring tape, Amp meters, Ohm meters, meggers, etc.); demonstrated ability to troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical issues and wire equipment.
• Must possess basic computer skills sufficient to produce parts lists, and hours for work order completion and creation.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver license.
