Andrea E. Clarke, born March 19, 1945, passed October 29, 2025. Ceremony begins at 5 p.m. followed by a reception. Held from 5-8 p.m. at the YMI Cultural Center, 39 S. Market St. in Asheville.

Mt. Olive Soup Supper
Held from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at 40 Mt. Olive Drive in Mars Hill. Dine in or carry out; donations accepted at the door. Proceeds support the maintenance and beautification of the historic Black burial site in Madison County. Preserving spaces like this keeps our stories visible and our history cared for.

A no pressure, open mic night where entrepreneurs and students can practice their pitch, get helpful feedback, and connect with others. This documentary sheds light on the decades-long strategy to amplify racial divisions and white victimization narratives for power and profit. With first-person accounts from Hillary Clinton, Steve Bannon, Rep. Jamie Raskin, and other leading experts, White With Fear looks at how racial bigotry is weaponized, and what this means for the nation. White With Fear will air on PBS.

Heating Bill Assistance
Assistance is available for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) for households with someone age 60 or older, and/or a person with a disability receiving services through the Division of Aging. Join the community for First Saturdays on South Market Street in Asheville. Black Stories in Census Tract 2
A new documentary brings Stumptown’s history to life through film, creating an opportunity for deeper reflection, community dialogue, and shared learning. The screening begins at 5 p.m. at Pack Memorial Library, 67 Haywood Street, Asheville.

 

Peer Living Room
Individuals 18 years and older who are looking for a safe and supportive environment as part of their recovery from substance use and mental health challenges are free to visit Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. It is a casual location for folks to socialize and attend groups and meetings. 356 Biltmore Avenue, Lower Level, in Asheville.
