Swannanoa Valley Schedules Dialogue on Race Series

Staff reports

The public is invited to participate in a four-week Dialogue on Race, hosted by Warren Wilson College. The sessions will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jensen Hall (Room 302) on the college campus on November 11 and 18.

“A frank and open dialogue about race and racism in our society’s institutions,” led by trained facilitators, will explore the following issues:

•    Is racism still a problem today?
•    How do racial disparities affect you, regardless of your ethnicity?
•    What is “white privilege”?
•    What can you personally do to eliminate racism?

There is no charge for the Dialogue on Race, but participants are
urged to pre-register by contacting Roberta Madden at
[email protected] or Gerald Spates at [email protected].
The planners stressed that everyone is welcome, including townspeople,
as well as Warren Wilson students, faculty, and staff.

The Dialogue on Race is sponsored by Building Bridges of
Asheville and the Swannanoa Valley Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
Corporation.
