Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance

Sunday, January 17

The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance will present its MLK, Jr Commemoration event on Sunday, January 17 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 47 Eagle Street, Asheville.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Dwight McKessic, Sr., Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Arlington, TX. Also on the program is Dr. John H. Grant, Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and Dr. Keith A. Ogden, President of the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance. Music will be rendered by select choirs.

Hill Street Baptist Church

Hill Street Baptist Church will present its MLK, Jr. Commemoration Event on Sunday, January 17 during the morning worship service. Hill Street Baptist Church, 135 Hill Street, Asheville.

St. James AME Church

Monday, January 18

St. James AME Church on Hilderbrand Street in Asheville, will be the host church for the Asheville Buncombe MLK peace walk on Monday, January 18.

In conjunction with the Asheville-Buncombe MLK, Jr. Association, St. James AME Church will host their annual fish fry on the same day. All are invited to attend.

Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church

Monday, January 18

Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its annual MLK, Jr. event on January 18, 2016 at t at 6 p.m. The guest speak for this event will be the former Mayor of the City of Asheville, Ms. Terry M. Bellamy.

There will also be an exhibition of photo-art from 5-5:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Musical selections for this event will be rendered by the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church Choir.

Kenilworth Presbyterian Church

Monday, January 18

Kenilworth Presbyterian Church will hold its 6th Annual MLK, Jr. Commemoration on Monday, January 18. The potluck dinner will be held from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Kenilworth Center (behind the Church), on 4 Chiles Avenue.

The MLK, Jr. Commemoration will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The theme for this event is “Seeking Common Ground,” and will include a conversation on discrimination, fear, and healing.

DJ Profe$$or will provide entertainment. There will also be craft projects for the youth.
