Building Bridges Offers Morning Session

Building Bridges is pleased to announce our newest program designed specifically for the Asheville Community leaders and business owners, Leaders Building Bridges. We realize that the evening hours may have prohibited your participation so we are now offering a condensed 7-week morning program. We do hope this will allow you to participate because you are a vital leader in our community. The YWCA, located at 145 South French Broad Street, has graciously offered to host us.

Since 1993, Building
Bridges has deeply affected people and institutions throughout Western
North Carolina. To date, more than 1500 participants have attended the
program. Participants have come from Asheville, Hendersonville, Black
Mountain, Lake Junaluska, Franklin, Cherokee, Waynesville, Madison
County and Rutherfordton.

Through Building Bridges, Western North Carolinians of various
backgrounds meet for frank, open dialogue concerning stereotypes,
prejudices, and racism, which sometimes form subtle barriers. We
discover ways to become cooperative, committed community players. The
program concentrates on black/white relations.

Large group presentations on each topic are followed by small group
discussions that stimulate meaningful conversations. The reading
material is relevant specifically to the Asheville area.

The details of this upcoming morning session are as follows:
7:15-7:30 AM – Breakfast and networking
7:30-8:30 AM – Group presentation and questions
8:30-9:30 AM – Small group discussion

While our sessions will cover such topics as economics, housing,
education, institutional racism, and honoring our differences it is not
a diversity-training program. Our facilitators are trained
professional, passionate about leading your group to discuss key issues
leaders must address.

As an Asheville community leader, would you let us help you to “build
bridges” within your organization and with our community at large?
