Rev. Brent La Prince Edwards has announced that St. James AME Church will host Revival 2015 from Wednesday, October 14 through Friday, October 16 at 44 Hildebrand Street in Asheville.

The revival begins at 7 p.m. each evening; the theme is “Christians Under Construction: Preparing for the Harvest.”

The Rev. Dr. Frank Madison Reid, III, Senior Pastor of the historic Bethel A.M.E. Church of Baltimore, MD, will be the keynote speaker each night. Dr. Reid earned his BA from Yale University in 1974 and his M.Div. in 1978 from Harvard Divinity School. He was named a distinguished Samuel Dewitt Proctor Fellow at United Theological Seminary, where he received his D.Min. in 1990.

A “thought leader” on issues of culture, Dr. Reid was a consultant for the 1980s-era NBC comedy AMEN. In the 1990s his legendary Outreach of Love TV Ministry reached millions on BET, the Armed Services Network, and The Word Networks, and from 2002-2008 the HBO series The Wire included worship services filmed at Bethel A.M.E.

A candidate for the Episcopal Office of Bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Dr. Reid has written two influential and bestselling books: The Nehemiah Plan and Restoring the House of God, co-authored with Dr. Jeremiah Wright, and When Black Men Stand Up For God: Reflections on the Million Man March.

Other local ministers will participate each evening as worship leaders accompanied by their choirs. On Wednesday, Superintendent Ronald Gates, Greater Works Church of God in Christ; Thursday, Rev. Dr. Keith Ogden, Hill Street Baptist Church; and Friday, Elder Alfred Blount, Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church

Dinner will be available before service each evening beginning at 6 p.m. The menu will be sandwiches, chips, and a beverage on Wednesday; chili, crackers, and a beverage on Thursday; and tacos and a beverage on Friday. The cost is $6 each night or $15 for all three nights.
