Every month Michael Jefry Stevens and the Lightbulb Trio Project invite a different guest soloist to explore the immediacy of the improvisational process in a freely structured context.

As the series has unfolded, the hallmark of the Lightbulb Trio Project shows has been a joyful sense of playful spontaneity. The sound is built around Michael Jefry Stevens’ acoustic piano and compositional concepts, the “kitchen percussion” innovations of Rob Falvo and the “speaking trombone” of Harold McKinney.

For the April installment the group welcomes saxophonist Jason Moore to the stage of the White Horse Black Mountain on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

A native of southern Louisiana, saxophonist, composer, music educator and yoga instructor Jason Moore now calls Asheville home. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in classical saxophone at LSU, and in 2008 was awarded a Masters degree in jazz studies from the University of New Orleans. Always striving for improvement , he’s currently studying with master  tenor sax man Matt Otto, which he credits with helping him focus his years of experience into a melodic style with greater breadth and depth.

In the spirit of spontaneous creativity, a free jam segment is being introduced in the second set of the show. All musicians are welcome to participate.

Show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015. Tickets are $8. White Horse, 105c Montreat Road, Black Mountain. (828) 669-0816, or visit www.whitehorseblackmountain.com.
