Michelle Obama is Launching a Podcast

The former First Lady dives deep into conversations with loved ones — family, friends, and colleagues — on the relationships in our lives that make us who we are.

The ‘Michelle Obama Podcast,’ a joint effort of Michelle and Barack’s company Higher Ground Productions, and Spotify, will include interviews with her family members and big names like late night host Conan O’Brien and top Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.

The new podcast, which will will debut on July 29, 2020, is focused on meaningful relationships and will include guests like her mother Marian Robinson, her brother Craig Robinson, journalist Michele Norris, and Dr. Sharon Malone, who is married to former Attorney General Eric Holder who served in the Obama administration.

Hosted by Michelle Obama, the series will bring listeners the former First Lady’s most candid and personal conversations, showing us what’s possible when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, to open up, and to focus on what matters most,’ the two companies announced in a press release.

Obama said in a statement that she’s hopeful the series “can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives.”

“Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations — and hard conversations — with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another,” she added.

Spotify Chief Content Officer Dawn Ostroff said, “We believe that audiences across the globe will be inspired by these most candid, most human and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests.”
