Construction Inspector – SS Construction Administration Division

Hiring range from $20.40/hr – $29.70/hr..

Under limited supervision, performs supervisory and technical work in the inspection of large and/or complex projects at the Metropolitan Sewerage Districts Waste Water Treatment Plant, sewerage pumping stations, and other atypical sanitary sewer construction project sites. Enforces District standards and conformance with approved plans and specifications. Must be familiar with construction materials, and machinery. Must ensure compliance with proper safety, ISO 14001 requirements. Responsible for pre-project planning, coordination between Contractors and District personnel/operations, and accounting for project activities in daily logs. The employee shall be knowledgeable in building code regulations to stay abreast of changes. Required to exercise considerable independent judgment in applying standards to a variety of work situations. Reports to the Lead Construction Inspector or Director of Construction and works closely with District Engineering Staff.

An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Design, Construction Technology or Construction Management and 10 years of experience in Civil Construction including Heavy Utility Construction (preferably in the water/wastewater industry or any combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities). Must have knowledge of approved construction practices, material and equipment, as well as, Federal, State and local safety rules and regulations. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
