Hiring range $43,708 (min) – $53,565 (mid), salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
Under general supervision, performs responsible technical work in the operation and minor maintenance of equipment at the wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift for the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County. Work involves collecting samples from plant systems, and controlling mechanical, electrical, and chemical equipment involved in pumping and treating wastewater along with the operation of a fluidized-bed incinerator.
Employee is also responsible for making adjustments and minor repairs to equipment as required. Independent judgment and initiative are required based on training and experience in making decisions and coordinating the proper operation of equipment. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with MSD staff. Reports to the WWTP Operations Manager.
Graduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operation and mechanical repair work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. A Grade II Biological operator’s license in wastewater treatment issued by the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources is preferred. Requires a valid North Carolina Driver’s license.
Plant Operations is 24-hour 7 day week function, And it for the Night Shift (Overtime may be required)
