Throughout my life, I’ve taken some hard steps, and I know in North Carolina we have difficult steps ahead.
From my days as the first Black student to integrate my all-white elementary school to beating a Republican incumbent to become a NC Supreme Court Justice, I have never backed down from a fight for the North Carolina that I believe in.
That’s because something told me that no matter how nervous or scared I was, I needed to keep moving forward, one step at a time.
That’s why I’m running for Governor — we have to change the system and level the playing field so everyone has an opportunity to thrive, just like I have.
