Edgerton Receives License to Teach Phlebotomy

JoAnne Edgerton has earned her instructor’s license to teach phlebotomy to employees who work with MAHEC in Asheville, NC.

She teaches her students how to draw blood, and other aspects of aseptic medical laboratory procedures.

Edgerton started her medical career at the Charles George VA Medical Center as a nursing assistant and began learning the skills of phlebotomy at Hillside nursing home. She served as assistant manager at the Asheville Plasma Center and as a preceptor in blood services for the American Red Cross.

She has been employed at MAHEC as an OB/GYN Specialist since 1999. There she coordinates all patient laboratory procedures, and is also responsible for coordinating many of the MAHEC staff social community events.

In her spare time, JoAnne enjoys traveling, shopping, and dancing.
