Asheville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts invites area seniors to participate in a friendly competition in a variety of events at the 2013 Asheville-Buncombe Senior Games and Silver Arts, to be held May 21 – June 4.
Senior Games is an exciting health and fitness program for adults, age 55 and better, including a wide range of activities designed for individuals at various fitness levels. Activities include track and field events, croquet, horseshoes, golf, tennis, basketball, badminton, table tennis, shuffleboard, billiards, cycling, bowling and swimming.
The top competitors in each category will be eligible to go to the State Games in Raleigh. Silver Arts is a statewide arts program that celebrates the accomplishments of Buncombe County’s senior artists and provides a showcase for talent in visual, heritage, literary, and performing arts.
Categories for entering creative pieces or performances includes painting/drawing in varied media, sculpture, photography, poetry, short story, essay, basketry, needle arts, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, dance, comedy, drama and vocal performances.
Registration is now underway for all events. Get in on the early bird registration fee through May 17, then $10 thereafter.
