By Maceo Keeling –
Young people today are asking, “Where is God?”
Who is he, and why should they believe and follow family traditions of Christianity? The answer is not always clear, but not uncommon. In order to explain the answer we must be armed with the substance and power the question deserves.
Many of us spend much of our time praying to God and asking for favor, blessings, prosperity, and salvation. However, many pastors, preachers, and ecumenical leaders with tell you that you must have a personal testimony before you begin to testify.
The fact that you have a story to tell about how good God is will be the beginning of questions you must be ready for that will come from our youth. “How do you know it was God?” “Why does He let bad things happen?” “Where is He right now?” The answers are all in the Holy Word.
Generally speaking we spend time praying—talking to God—when we should be listening to the voice of God. Which do you think is more important, for God to hear and recognize our voice in prayer, or for us to hear and recognize His supreme and almighty voice?
How do we hear the voice of God? We are taught in scriptures to study the word of God. It is certain that we can’t effectively talk about something we don’t know about. If we hope to save our youth, we must have the knowledge and personal relationship to share what is taught from the Bible.
By now you want to know why is Maceo writing an article about God. I’ll clarify.
God is God, has been, and always will be. I am writing to encourage you to embrace faith as you come to know it, harness the power that is in your faith, and live in joy.
Where is God, you ask? God is in the gap between what you have and what you need. God is in the gap between sickness and good health, between ignorance and wisdom, between chaos and peace. Almighty God is in the gap between your fear and your successes! Without “Faith” there is a great abyss that separates you from your joy, like a cloud over the sun. God is a bridge over troubled waters. God is in the gap between a dark dysfunctional past and a bright beautiful future!
I’m writing this article simply to share that Faith is the thing! It is the Faith in God that reveals all the secrets to success and salvation. Faith does not come immediately, but be assured it will come with works! The kind of works I’m talking about is reading the word, fellowship in church, private time in prayer, sacrifice in the form of tithes, offering, good deeds, which by grace your salvation will come. You have a blessed assurance from God.
The message today is, try God! To get what you’ve never had, you have to do what you’ve never done. Try God now!
“You don’t have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to become great!”
