There is generally a punctuated pause between winter and spring, some sputtering hodge-podge of thaw, budding, with intermittent cold snaps bringing this whole thing—this series of bursting rainbows and light miracles we’re so eager for and accustomed to—all of it, back into question.

What’s going on? Exactly what magic happens deep inside us this time of year? How does this special and precious energy overwrite our psyches so completely, and even turn back the hands of time, if only temporarily? Isn’t this how life works?

Doesn’t the recurring cycle of life itself give us yet another chance to participate—we who desire such a chance—and don’t we jump at it? This year Spring is hesitant, very different, a far cry from Her usual fragrant, bursting arrival.

This year She appears tentative, unsure, almost with certain conditions. What are they? Do they involve us? If so, how do we cooperate and coax Her full being? Come on, imagine it! In what area of your life have you kept silent, withheld yourself, denied this starving world the full expression of who you really are?

How long ago were you lulled into this sleep that perhaps caused even you to forget yourself? What in your life needs repurposing, tossing, tilling, re-seeding, fertilizing, resurrecting, and how does your best being help to midwife or usher Hers in?

Maybe we need reminding. We are all part of creation. Nature’s wisdom pulsates in and through each one of us poetically. Where is yours?

May

What dance step
tip-toes,
soft pedals
these
forbidden
clodhoppers
while
her pale gray
prolonged
chilly
drizzle
recoils?
Spring
unsure, awaits
my greening
my
new life flow —
bold
direct
expectant
my glowing
trust
in
what really is —
this
freshly chor/e/o/graphed
this
re/sur/rec/ted dream
stirs
knocks
peeks
…my persistent
in/vi/ta/tion…
surely,
strirruped
prepped
primed
this next
rebirthing
in/e/vi/ta/ble!
