Raging Elephants – On the Loose!

gop_billboard_crop.jpgHouston, Texas – An African American conservative group based in Houston, Texas recently placed controversial billboards in Austin as well as in Ohio and South Carolina. The billboard depicts a number of well-heeled African American actors while trumpeting the slogan “GOP Is The New Black.”

“The campaign is to encourage more black voters to embrace the Republican party,” said Raging Elephants spokesperson and conservative activist apostle Claver Kamau-Imani.

One sign in particular that hangs over Martin Luther King, Jr.
Boulevard in East Austin is drawing mixed reviews from residents there.
It says. “Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican.” But this is a
controversial claim that has never been substantiated.

Raging
Elephants contends that many African Americans share their conservative
views on such social issues as abortion and marriage, and thus should
vote that way. Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani recently caused controversy at
a Herman Cain event by attacking Democrats as “the party of the KKK.”

African
American voters have historically been a predominantly strong base for
the Democratic Party, but Raging Elephants is looking to change that
with its “GOP Is The New Black” campaign. It’s also likely to spark a
debate that may include allegations of race-baiting, as well as a
certain inquiry into the sources of the initial funding for it.

If nothing else, the signs have people talking.
