Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Beta Lambda Zeta Chapter, participated in the organization’s Global Day of Service.

The initiative was launched in January 2017 with the goal of reaching 20 million hours of community service by the organization’s centennial year in 2020. Beta Lambda Zeta Chapter contributed to this effort by supporting Room in the Inn, a nonprofit organization in Asheville that partners with 60 faith communities that take turns hosting women dealing with homelessness. Each church houses the ladies for a week, and teams (including partner congregations) provide all their meals, shelter, and evening activities. This gives women a safe place to sleep each night while waiting to get permanent housing.

Chapter members provided toiletry items to assist the women in meeting the basic needs of health and wellness. The women were grateful for the assistance. Following the distribution of the items, the chapter members joined the women for their evening meal.
