On Friday, July 7, 2017 the angels arrived to take Minister Jerry T. Adell home.
Jerry was born on January 18, 1951 in Buncombe County to Mr. John R. Adell and the late Gladys Robinson Adell. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, John K. Adell.
Jerry attended Asheville’s South French Broad High School for a short period and went on to graduate from A.C. Reynolds High School in the Fairview Community. While attending A.C. Reynolds, Minister Adell received many awards for his communication skills.
Jerry started his Christian experience and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was ordained as a minister on March 26, 2006. During his church membership, he served as President of the Senior Choir, President of the Usher Board, Worship Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Head Cook in the Kitchen, Clean-up Committee, Decoration Committee and any other task that needed to be full-filled.
Jerry dedicated his life to helping others where ever he could. His favorite hobbies were singing, cooking, loving his family and friends, but most importantly serving God. Minister Adell’s special motto of life was, “I don’t go to church looking for God; he is with me wherever I go.” His worship, praise, and preaching has left a legacy for all.
He was a member of the Carolina Gospel Singers and traveled throughout the Southeast where he was well known. If Minister Adell was in the house you would surely know, because he was loud and full of joy; it was no secret that he loved praising the Lord. He often stated, “If no one else wants to give him praise, I will praise him by myself.”
Minister Adell was employed at, and managed, Gold Gym and Biltmore Fitness for a total of 30 years. He loved people and never ever met a stranger. He greeted everyone with a smile and had words of encouragement for everyone. Everyone was his friend and he will truly be missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his father, John Rufus Adell of the home, sisters Darlene Miller (Earl) of Greenville, SC and Patricia Adell of Arden, NC; one niece, Leah Miller, of Greenville, SC, and one nephew, Ty Besses of Asheville, and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held at Biltmore Baptist Church, Arden Campus.
