Meet & Greet for City Council Candidates

The League of Women Voters of Asheville and Buncombe County will host candidates for Asheville City Council at a public Meet and Greet Tuesday, September 20 at Packs Tavern in downtown Asheville. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the upstairs Century Room from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Nine candidates will face off in a nonpartisan primary election October 11; the six highest vote-getters in that election will vie for three seats on City Council. Two incumbents, Jan Davis and Bill Russell, are running for reelection; a third, Brownie Newman, is retiring after two terms. The other candidates are Mark Cates, Saul Chase, Lael Gray, Marc Hunt, Tim Peck, Chris Pelly, and T. J. Thomasson.
