The 62nd Debutante Presentation by Beta Lambda Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was held at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Asheville Event Centre at 991 Sweeten Creek Road. Three young women were presented under the theme of “Empowering and Transforming Self through the Arts.”

Those presented were Miss Kionia Woods, crowned the 62nd Debutante Queen, Jadé Jones, her first runner-up, and Miss Neffetterie Lucille Tykea Johnson, second runner-up.

Through the annual presentation, young women are introduced to society and to the sorority’s goal of achieving the Ideal of Finer Womanhood. Zeta Phi Beta emphasizes reputable character, high ideals of conduct and scholarship, leadership ability, and worthwhile ambitions among the young women it presents.

Ms. Woods is the daughter of Ms. Krystal Woods and granddaughter of Mrs. Verita Woods. Her Marshall was Mr. Rashaad Woods, and her sorority sponsors were Ms. Sarah Weston Hart and Mrs. Thelma Porter.

Ms. Jones is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Etheredge; her Marshall was Mr. Samuel Etheredge, and her sorority sponsors were Ms. Bernice Gash and Ms. Vivian Ridley.

Ms. Johnson is the daughter of Ms. Earicka B. Johnson and Mr. James Moore, Jr. Her Marshall was Mr. James Moore, Jr., and her sorority sponsor was Ms. Norma S. Baynes.

The Beta Lambda Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was chartered in 1945.
