Mission Health Welcomes Medical Director and Research Officer

2016-02 Limentani_Steven_MDASHEVILLE, N.C.  – Mission Health welcomes Steven Limentani, MD, in the dual roles of Vice President & Medical Director, Cancer Services and Chief Research Officer, Mission Health.

Dr. Limentani is board certified and fellowship trained in hematology and medical oncology. He attended Tufts University School of Medicine and did his internal medicine training at the New England Deaconess Hospital, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. He completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

In 1995, Dr. Limentani moved to Charlotte where he was a founding member of Carolinas Hematology-Oncology Associates.  During his 20 years in Charlotte he was instrumental in developing the research program from two to more than 100 staff and over 200 actively accruing clinical trials. With the formation of the Levine Cancer Institute five years ago, Dr. Limentani was named the Medical Director for Clinical Trials.

During his career Dr. Limentani has conducted research and published results in many areas including multiple myeloma, lung cancer and breast cancer. He has served on the board of directors of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project and is a member of the breast cancer working group of NRG Oncology.

In his role at Mission Health, Dr. Limentani will continue the work of building and expanding Mission Cancer Services, as well as building and develop Mission’s research program.
