GWU educator, Asheville native Rodney Johnson will be the keynote speaker.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe County will hold its 35th annual interdenominational Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Asheville. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.; doors open at 7:45 a.m.

The keynote speaker will be Asheville native Rodney Johnson, who recently retired from George Washington University after a long career in higher education.

Johnson was a star basketball player at Asheville High School and is a graduate and Distinguished Alumnus of Mars Hill University. Early in his career he served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at UNC Asheville, as well as the founder and director of its Office of Minority Affairs. He coached at Boston University before joining the staff at George Washington University, where he was Executive Director of the Office of Parent Services.

Tickets for the breakfast cost $25 each ($30 after January 1). Patron tickets are $35, with patron names included in the program journal (must be purchased before December 20).
