The City of Asheville, along with Buncombe County and Pisgah Legal Services, will host the 2017 Affordable Housing Summit on Friday, September 29 at UNC Asheville’s Sherrill Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The summit will begin with a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Matthew Desmond, followed with morning and afternoon sessions on development and design, finance, policy, and emerging trends.
The summit addresses an issue of great importance to Asheville, said Community Development Director Heather Dillashaw. “Like many communities across the nation, Asheville is experiencing a crisis in addressing the critical shortage of affordable housing.
