When in the course of our daily lives we are confronted with things that we don’t understand, we often say, “That wasn’t nothing but the devil working,” or, “(S)he’s catching hell right now.”

Perhaps it wasn’t the devil at all, but simply the absence of faith in life. My mother told my siblings and me, “If you don’t stand for something—you’ll fall for anything.”

So, my question bears this consideration: What do you stand for?

What things are you willing to fight for right now? I am not talking about physical engagement (a fistfight) or a verbal row. I’m saying, what are you willing to fight for in order to achieve successful advancements in your life?

If we say it’s our children, are we making sure they have the best possible quality of life we can afford them? Are we feeding them quality food, or making excuses for why we don’t feed them a wholesome meal with lots of vegetables?

Perhaps you’ll say, “I’ll fight for my momma!” [or my wife, or significant other] But, did you take 30 seconds on any day to say, “Thank you for what you have done to enrich my life.”?

Perhaps you say you’d fight for what you believe. You may say that you stand up for the Lord or your God. Have you practiced the words of your faith daily? Do you invite people to hear of your salvation?

We admire people who take a stand. However, too often we look on from the sidelines in awe and say, “Wow I can’t believe (s)he did that!”

Those folk are not unlike you. You have a voice and the power to speak your truth, whether you shout it out loud or you speak it with a shaky trembling voice.

It is the fight that makes you able to stand! It is the stand that deepens your Faith. Have Faith that you can stand.

There is a difference between being disrespectful, insolent, or irreverent and standing up in the face of injustice, bigotry, and hypocrisy. Your voice—even a whisper—can cause a mighty tempest for change … if you whispered into the right ear, at the right time, and in the right way.

I am calling you out today! Speak your truth! Call out your Faith! Fight your good fight! And always, in doing so, be sincere and know that there may be someone standing on the sidelines thinking, “I can do that too!”

I challenge you today to STAND!

You don’t have to be great to get started but you do have to start to become great!
