Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Book Club Meeting

The Asheville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host its next book discussion on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Delta House Life Development Center, 218 South French Broad Avenue in Asheville.

Natalie Baszile

The book to be discussed is Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszile. Baszile has an MA in Afro-American Studies and is a graduate of Warren-Wilson College’s MFA Program for writers. Her literary excellence has gained her the honorable nomination of an NAACP Image Award. Queen Sugar has also been named as one of the San Francisco Chronicle’s Best Books of 2014.

Queen Sugar tells the tale of a mother and daughter starting their lives over on a sugarcane farm in the South, immersing the reader in a portrait of life outside of one’s comfort zone. All those who have read the book are welcome to participate. Queen Sugar is available to borrow from public libraries or to purchase at local bookstores or online.
