Classical Indian Sitar –
World-renowned performing artist Reshma Srivastava, M.A., was born into a family of professional musicians in Allahabad, India. Her uncle, Prof. Satish Chandra, an artist from the Pt. Ravi Shankar’s tradition, was her first teacher. Under the traditional tutelage of her father, Girish Chandra Srivastava, and uncle, she has mastered the instrument and achieved the highest academic honors in music during her student years. Her tutelage is in the same line and musical style as Ravi Shankar and Nikhil Banergee.
Reshma began her life-long musical career on the sitar when she was six years old. At age eight she gave her first public performance and began broadcasting on the radio even earlier. An acclaimed artist, her childhood performances are still played on the radio in India today. Her concert tours in the past have included many cities in India, and numerous live radio concerts. This music is not only Indian, it is universally appealing. Srivastava’s tours in Europe have included performances in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Israel, and Cyprus.
