The Scholastic Art Awards exhibit is on display from January 28 until February 26, 2017 at the Asheville Art Museum’s On the Slope gallery.
The Asheville Art Museum, with the assistance of its volunteer docents and support from the Asheville Area Section of the American Institute of Architects and the Center for Craft, Creativity & Design, is proud to sponsor the annual WNC Regional Scholastic Art Awards.
Students in grades 7-12 from all across our region were invited to submit work for this special juried competition. A selection of artwork receiving regional awards will be on view in the Gallery on the Slope, 175 Biltmore Avenue, from January 28 through February 26, 2017. Admission is free. Check ashevilleart.org for a list of the student artists whose work will be on view.
All regional award recipients will be honored at a ceremony on Sunday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the Diana Wortham Theatre. Regional Gold Key recipients’ work will be sent to the National Scholastic Art competition in New York City.
A small reception will be held on January 27 from 5-7 p.m. to celebrate the official opening of the Asheville Art Museum On the Slope at 175 Biltmore Avenue. Enjoy light refreshments, drinks, and explore this new pop-up space.
