The Wild Asheville Community Chorus (WACC) delivered another enthusiastic, heartfelt, joyful concert in early May.

Sixty-plus members lifted their voices in powerful songs that spanned the globe. Bright smiles were evident as codirectors Suzannah and Nathan Park, the singers, and the audience all enjoyed the happiness that song can bring.

The WACC chorus, now in its seventh year, is the brainchild of the Parks. It performs a spring and fall concert each year. Following its belief that “Everyone Can Sing,” its motto proclaims, “Sing Your Heart Out!” In Suzannah’s words, “There are no wrong notes, only variations.”

The chorus rehearses ten to twelve weeks before each concert; anyone can join—there are no auditions—and enjoy the benefits of singing with others. The program includes songs from different eras and from around the world, including South Africa, Peru, Bosnia, Croatia, and America, performed with respect for the culture in which they originated. Songs range from contemporary gospel to those sung in the ancient temples of Europe, from lighthearted love songs to others about deep despondence while in captivity.
